Rocas House

The residence is presented as a set of two tiered boxes perched on a very narrow terrain, in which the slope becomes steeper as it presents to the sea. The implantation was designed as gentle as possible, in order to maintain the difference of level between the site and the views, allowing to see the horizon without disturbance, both from within the house and from the outdoor area.

Two side stone walls were designed like a programmatic box, with the lower box holding the public areas and opens with all its views over the rocks and the sea.

Supported by this box, the upper level, which contains the private areas, is a perfect prism, covered by timber slats used as folding shutters, which seems to float as one of its sides peeks over the access. During the day it hides its interior through its folding skin, although at night it can be seen as it generates the opposite effect.
