The commission for this house required the fulfillment of three conditions: a program with five suites in 250 m2, that it be completely enclosable by means of electric blinds, and the use of an easy to maintain covering such as PVC. These guidelines were decisive in the final result of the volume, which resulted in a compact solution distributed on two levels.
The siding has constructive limitations that prevent making thin elements, so it was only used on large surfaces, without many overhangs or eaves, working in a compact “L” shaped box. The coating, shutters and windows were all left in white PVC.
This compactness allows for energy savings through greater efficiency in air conditioning. To take better advantage of the sunlight, all the bedrooms are oriented north and to the south, the house is more airtight. The grill station is protected from the characteristic wind of the Rocas de Santo Domingo seaside town.
The energy efficiency and space distribution are enhanced by the house’s applied technology. The client is an engineer who has an electrical technology company, which he wanted to implement in his secondary residence. The house is 100% electric, autonomous, has a home automation system and photovoltaic panels, with all the technological circuits integrated and where the systems are in charge.
