Sasso House

The project consisted of the expansion of a 1970’s single unit house, transforming it, as per the clients’ request, into two independent areas, housing simultaneously but separately a private residence and a hair salon.

The proposal was based on creating two sectors independent in their operation and to expand the floorplan following the main structure of the old house. Each space was relocated according to their relation to the street through regular and compact volumes differentiated by the use of color. Thus, the hair salon is developed towards the front and the house, which grows with a second level, is located at the back.

The materials used were low-cost and of simple execution.

The volumes were covered with fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) panels, in modules that optimize their industrial format. Access to the hair salon was defined within that modulation and its interior space is illuminated through a skylight.

The design of the second-floor windows was intended to display what was usually hidden behind each area.
